Now we just need Jane to grace us with her presence. A friend commented that it looked very neat, and my comment back is "you should see the rest of the house." But hey, we've got one room organized. I decided to go with a Secret Garden theme, since I liked the idea of lots of greens with some pink here and there. Here is the rundown ..
The crib is made by Stokke, and the last piece we finally got yesterday (as it was sold out everywhere), was the canopy rod. Many thanks to my Aunt Andrea and Uncle Jeff in San Jose for the actual canopy. And various friends and family who have gotten the sheets and blankets (Renee, Jon, Peggy).
This is the changing wall, with wildflowers (decals, no, I cannot paint this well). I added the mirrors because a) I was sick of them in the living room and b) I was told babies like to look at themselves when they are changed, it's a bit of a distraction. And if she's anything like me, she will enjoy the mirror (yes, I am finally admitting I am a bit mirror obsessed). The decals for the wildflowers and the cherry tree were both from a seller on Etsy, Charming. Really neat stuff.
One of my favorite parts of Jane's room, that was totally unexpected was the hanging birds from Lauren. I have no idea how they are actually supposed to hang, they just sort of choose to stay in one place and I sort of love that they don't fall perfectly. It makes them look real. You can see the changing table and the dresser, which were from Don and Arlene and are just beautiful. We got them through JC Penny. I chose pieces that I thought we could continue to use, that didn't look super "baby."
The window treatment I've talked about before, and it was one of the initial purchases to help make this room a Secret Garden. Of course it comes from Anthropologie, my favorite store on the PLANET. The basket on the floor is from Jill, it says "baby things" and I've put in the toys we've received for newborns. The papasan chair is from Tanya, which I've also heard is a lifesaver!
I just got these two little owls (Penny and Joy) from Pottery Barn Kids, I saw them online and thought they were too friendly and happy to not be in Jane's room. They also reminded me of the owl in Cathy's painting (below).
The chair finally arrived (thank you Mom & Dad)! Another fab JC Penny purchase (seriously, check them out if you haven't, great prices and good quality on furniture). The pillow is from Pier One and the blanket was made specially for us by our landlord Kristi. It has bulldogs and cats on the entire blanket. I LOVED the colors. I tried to stick with a pink & green theme in the room and she really brought all those colors and more. We were so excited to open this!
I see a lot of time spent in this little nook of the room. The lamp we found at Target. The table came to us in a round about way from my friend Jill at work who wanted to sell it on Craigs List and we stopped her before she could post it. It has a cherry tree on it and goes perfectly with the room. Steve and George have already spent some quality time in the chair, reading their dorky books about management.
And of course, one of my favorite things in Jane's room thus far. The Cathy Nichols designed Sweet Baby Jane's Tree. I couldn't love this anymore and I know this is something special Jane will have for the rest of her life. I will always be indebted to Cathy for this beautiful piece!

And that's Jane's room! The countdown is on, due date is March 23 so*hopefully* that's about 20 more days if she decides to come on time like her Dad.
I do need to mention, I had some incredibly sad news yesterday. My Godfather is now in heaven, leaving his beautiful, wonderful family behind in a very surprising turn of events that took his life way too early. As I reflect on the "Dad's" in my life, I can recall my own Dad, Mr. Knodel, Mr. Bahr (my Godfather) and Mr. Johnson. I am heartbroken to have lost two of these men so early in life. They were role models for me, and truly showed me what a man should be. Kind, honest, devoted husbands, loving/active fathers. I remember many trips I took with Mr. Bahr and the girls for Indian Princesses. He was a pilot so we would always get to "fly ahead" to our camps in these great float planes. Nothing could have been more fun when you are a little kid. He took me on my first, and only trip in a glider. Something I still can't believe I did!! As I think about this terrible loss, and the little life growing inside me, it's a wave of mixed emotions. Mr. Bahr was also the only person I have ever met, born on my birthday. My heart, thoughts, prayers and whatever else I have goes out to the Bahr family. This is a tremendous loss for us, but I suppose a big gain for heaven.
