I still say, this is the hardest thing I've ever done - but it's gotten so much more rewarding as well. I am amazed how much she changes, daily. I think when she started to react - when she would smile, laugh, or just look right into my eyes the connection that you hope comes from Day 1, came for me. I loved her dearly in the beginning, but now I can't imagine loving anything more (said as she is crying, trying to wake up from a 20 min nap ... hold please.)
We've been so many places already - St. Louis to see my sister, and Jane got to meet her cousins, Milwaukee to see her first Mariners game. We'll actually be going to see them again tomorrow night against the White Sox, hoping we can win one for Jane Bell at some point. Jane has gotten to meet her Aunt Donna, her Aunt Andrea, a ton of her Chicago/Steinhagen family and spend time with her buddies Sam, Zoe, Naveen, Nolis, Kassidy and Bree.
I am trying to update the baby book but I also thought my blog would be a good place to write down funny things about her.
Sometimes when she sneezes, and nothing happens, she still makes the noise. I have it on my blackberry. Now I need to get it on the Flip.
She has learned how to turn on the aquarium in her crib, with her feet. You'll go in and she'll be smiling away, so proud of herself, watching her aquarium.
The first time she laughed, I of course couldn't contain myself and laughed too. I don't see the shoulder shudder yet, but the girl can laugh. Its not a giggle.
Jane recently started touching everything she saw, which usually is my face. She will just hold on to my chin sometimes, and stare at it. Of course, this now also includes my hair.
Jane Bell is .... always .... talking. I don't even bother with the sound on the TV anymore. You can't hear it. She is constantly playing with her voice. This is especially fun when she hears, other voices. My Mom knows this first hand from Skype.
The first song she sang along to: Sara Bareilles, "King of Anything." I think it's because in the beginning she goes "oh, oh ... oh, oh" and that's one of her favorite sounds. At any rate, I love it. She also loves all the old 60s songs, like the Supremes. I sing "Baby Mine" to her all the time. I trying to counteract all the Waylon someone else sings to her ...
The one thing that's happened recently, and Melina assures me this is a phase, is stranger anxiety. She loves looking at everyone, smiling, and laughing, but you try and pick her up and you will get the bottom lip - followed by a loud cry.
Oh, and she's teething. Hello slobber!
