"Swiiinnnnng that tambourine, for me ..

... like it's nothing you've ever seen, like it's nothing you'd ever say."

Okay, we got that out of the way. That feels better.

I'm not even about to get political on a blog. I've heard horror stories. But can't we, as a nation, gawk and awe and unmercifully tease these particular displays? I realize I should be excited for everyone to vote. I am not excited about this. Someone has to make it stop. I wonder if a Moderate even has a chance getting a nomination anymore??

Blllllleeeeeeeccccck.

If you buy Sundance jewelry, does that mean you have to buy their clothes? Because, damn. I'd rather shop exclusively at Pay Half. And that is saying something.

What is with this abundance of "sexy" wedding pictures that women are taking? They look so stupid. It's your wedding. Kick back, relax, have fun and don't take yourself too seriously. You're in a huge white poufy mess of tulle. Don't pout. Stop it with those eyes. Your parents don't want to see that.

Is Weekend Update funny to people anymore? What a letdown after the Office.

So Roscoe Village has a ton of boutiques. There is one store for pregnant women only - and yes, they look like they're doing okay so that tells you how many pregnant women are in my neighborhood. At any rate, I've found myself walking by lately and thinking, "wow, that dress is cute, maybe if you just put a little belt around" (slap) Oh, God. Stop it.

Tomorrow I will be at the Adopt-A-Pet Navy Pier Howl-O-Ween Event, representing the CEBR. Come by if you want to say Hi!

Music for the week, some older stuff, some new stuff:

Roahouse Blues - The Doors
Bullet & A Target - Citizen Cope
Make You Crazy (feat Femi Kuti) - Brett Dennen
Turnaroundturnmeon - Sean Hayes

Is Rihanna like the Nate Dogg of her generation? She basically does a new hook every other week.

Bullybash and other craziness

This weekend was CEBR's big fundraiser - Bullybash!

http://www.ebullymatch.com/

They feature an agility course, a costume contest, a raffle and our favorite part - the Rescue Parade. This year we timed it a little better and went later. We actually missed being submitted for the costume contest but I spotted more than a few puppies. Vinney still put on his Watchdog costume for roughly 15 minutes and I got a picture. But we seemed to like our rescue bandanna better.

What time is it Vinney/Rob Meier? Joke never got old. Ever.

Darth Vader was a huge hit. Though I don't think the helmet lasted long.

L and Lola, the taco.

You're not beating this. No chance.

We loved this one. I think she made it too which makes it even better.

This guy kills me.
Couple of other things ...

Every morning on my bus a guy gets on for one stop. One stop. This isn't even an express. He's going maybe three blocks and he waits. Really??

Stephanie gave me this lovely book Iodine to read, by Haven Kimmel. I couldn't put it down. I have NO idea what it was about. Anyone?

L sent me this disturbing piece of news today which officially ruined it. Mother's Cookies have gone bankrupt.

I love navy.

Friday Fix

To the CTA who thinks two express trains, in a row, is necessary: get your s#$% together. What reason could you possibly have for two expresses? Do you want people hurling themselves at the doors to get on? Because I almost did.

To whomever stole my wallet, out of my purse, on the el, while on my lap and went to every bank in Chicago to take out $20 advances: I wish I could break every finger you still have. To the tellers who don't find this at all suspicious (you're charged $10 every time): get your s#$% together. To the person who stole A's purse while she was travelling: I hate you. To the person who stole T's car out of her driveway - purse and all. I hate you, more. I do believe things happen in threes though, so hopefully everyone else is fine. If you don't feel so sure - just do yourself a favor and go through your wallet now, pull out everything you *don't* use and put it in a safe.

To Jessica Simpson who is trying to sell her pea coats at Macy's for $400 each: you have to be kidding me. Plus, I'm not sure you really do deserve Tony Romo (insert Steve eyeroll).

To Oasis: thank you so much for making a new CD. I am truly in love. One day Noel, one day.

Music I love right now:

Oasis - (I couldn't choose) "Bag It Up" and "Falling Down" (The Chemical Brothers remix)
New Kids On the Block and Lady GaGa - "Big Girl Now" (thanks a lot A)
DJ Khaled (feat Nas) - "I'm On"
Kristopher Rangstam - "Swing That Tambourine"
Lil Wayne, Static Major & Kanye West - "Lollipop" (Remix)
Adele - "Melt My Heart to Stone"

While Oasis is quickly becoming a favorite, Adele's *entire* CD has been on rotation quite a bit for me. So far I would say that 19 is my favorite album of the year. Have a good weekend!!

Disregard, baseball fans

Baseball is in fact, not still going. At least not in my house, or office. And honestly after the Angels lost, I have little reason to watch this year. However I do love my new Russell Martin bobblehead, even though it's hidden for now. Thank you E.

I just got back from LA last night. Andrea, Mary and I went to the Wazzu v. UCLA game and all things considered - it was pretty close (28-3)! There were girls in mini-skirts (it was raining) and grown men talking smack to Andrea when we started losing, for no good reason. Once we moved to the Coug section, in the endzone, people were nicer. We went out in Pasadena afterwards and I heard the screams when the Dodgers clenched. I felt pretty happy to be in LA and not around my poor, sad, angry husband. A Mariners fan is really no help at that point.

I ate - very well, all weekend. Saturday we had In-N-Out for lunch (pic below), Sunday we met Angi at the Alcove which was delicious. I got to see Angi and Mondo's apartment with their view of the Hollywood sign and ride around in her convertible. So fun. Monday AM we had breakfast at Central Park in downtown Pasadena and tried to shop at the Americana but most of it isn't open yet. Not to fear. I still found some deals at Anthropolgie. I also got to try Andrea's favorite soft serve place - 21 Choices. Chocolate chip oreo frozen yogurt with chopped up Junior Mints. Yum.

As always, it's wonderful to be home to my lovely husband, slobbery bulldog and lazy cat.

An open letter to all baseball fans

Baseball - is still in progress (are you listening Seattle??). I know it might not feel like it - in New York, Seattle, or LA. Do people in LA even know the Dodgers are in it? Do people in LA watch sports?? (A is going to be so mad at me). I bet there will be more Cubs fans this weekend than Dodgers. Which is sad. Because I love Russel Martin.

Off topic - again. At any rate - baseball is still going!! We're in the playoffs!! Two teams from Chicago are in it - one made it ages ago and one made it in last night. And guess what - you have two former Mariners going on each team. Who doesn't love Ken Griffey, Jr.?? Don't you think he deserves a ring? And our favorite coach of all time - Lou Pinella is coaching the Cubs - the best team in the NL.

All I know is I'd really love both teams to do well. But to maintain a happy household, I will say I would *really* like the Cubs to win the NL so I don't have an angry husband. So tune in to what should be a great playoff series!! Because at this point - anyone could win it. ANY of these teams could upset. There are no front runners! Oh the possibilities!!

(am I doing promo work without getting paid for it? Damn it)
