Taylor Lautner should not play Jacob Black, ever again

Daniel Henney should be the next Jacob, not Taylor Lautner. And here is why ..


Taylor Lautner ..
a) really can't act
b) looks very, very young (look at that baby face!)
c) is very, very short
d) is not at all who Jacob is supposed to be in the next three books. Can you fathom the last book with him? Noooooooo.

You're supposed to think she could pick Jacob over Edward. And for all who read the book, you know what happens but to make this realistic, we need a new Jacob.


So here's my pitch for Daniel Henney ..

a) Daniel is American/Korean/Indian, and could totally pull off the roll with longer hair and more muscle
b) he can actually act
c) he's really, really tall
d) it would just be a million times more believable (and enjoyable).


Jacob gets older, bigger and more mature very quickly. That can't happen naturally. Come on people, you know what he is. Maybe if they filmed this in five years and he grew two feet you could use the same actor but not now. PLUS Daniel Henney is actually in the next X-Men movie, Wolverine. It's a sign.

This has been an ongoing discuss between J, S and myself. You have to find someone more believable for the role. Who can I call to make this happen?

A salute to Karen O and Cathy Waterman

... who have absolutely nothing to do with each other but because I love them both, you all get to relish in their loveliness.

Karen O (Karen Lee Orzolek) is the lead singer of a band who continues to make better music - the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. She is Korean & Polish. Karen O is the only lead singer I've ever known of that spits grapes into the crowd and actually danced off the stage once and had to go to the hospital. She is punk, rock and one of the hottest women on the planet right now. Their new album comes out April 14th, I can hardly wait.


Cathy Waterman takes inspiration from nature, designing both delicate and bold jewelry in platinum, diamonds, and 22 karat gold. My wedding band is from Cathy Waterman and I love it dearly. Some of her most recent pieces showcase the 22 karat blackened gold which I can't get enough of. Her pieces are truly mesmerizing. You will frequently see her work in Hollywood and especially on Laura Linney (another favorite, but that is another blog).

Well, that's two in a row. "Bride Wars" and "Confessions of a Shopaholic." What an immense amount of crap and wasted $$. If I hadn't been with friends, I probably would have left both. What in God's name happened to the GOOD chick flicks of earlier days?!? Love Actually, Devil Wears Prada, Miss Congeniality, While You Were Sleeping, the Notebook, Legally Blond, Sweet Home Alabama, Chocalat, Notting Hill, Dirty Dancing, Beaches, Never Been Kissed, Can't Buy Me Love, or Strictly Ballroom?!?

Two of us .. two of them

I just found out one of my most favorite people in the world is coming in to surprise *me* for *her* birthday this weekend. Of course everyone knows you can't surprise me so I was told today, thankfully. She turns the big 3-0 next weekend and decided she wanted to take a trip instead of go out in LA with her scarf and flip-flops (hippy). She is my best friend, was my maid of honor and generally one of the funniest person I've ever met.

I'm honestly not sure what I would do without her friendship. She is as close to me as a sister (and technically - we are sisters, in the bond ..). I never am careful with what I say to her - I can always be myself and the same goes for her with me. There are *very* few people I can say that about. She is generous, smart, funny, and an incredibly loyal friend. The plan has always been, and will always be, to live on the same cul-de-sac. I can't imagine my life without her in it and I can't wait to see her and her bodyguard this weekend.

However (there's always a however), Andrea is not to be trusted with a camera. She will take incredibly unflattering pictures of you, and if the camera is focused on her you will generally get one of two pictures the next day.

A couple of quick hits.

The wonderful people at MisNopalesArt have created one of my favorite shirts of the year. I need this.


Clarins Self Tanning Instant Gel Amazon.com. I always ask for this for holidays and birthdays but I don't think people like getting self bronzers as gifts. That needs to stop. This is what I really want, and what I need. This is the reason I do not willingly give myself skin cancer in a tanning bed anymore. So in fact, this gift is really a life-saver.
Benefit Rose Benetint rose-tinted cheek and lip stain. How has it taken me so long to find you?? Aka, the lazy girl's lipstick. I love it on my cheeks now in the winter as well. Just a dab with a q-tip.
Did anyone know Arden B had great accessories? I have always enjoyed their dresses (well, the ones that don't push the Bebe-line) but I found myself in their store recently and bought two rings easily. Prices were great. This belt is so fun.I have to wait till April to get more Fringe? Uggh. I guess American Idol is in full swing though and maybe they weren't sure it would do well? At any rate. Fringe is by far my favorite show of the year. Check it out if you haven't.


Happy Valentine's Day all. Steve and I will be at the Blackhawks game Saturday night with some friends. We're not very romantic ... and I despise red roses.

Thank you Mr. Grammy

Thank you Mr. Grammy. I had a double header of indoor soccer Sunday and was wiped out when I got home. Luckily I remembered to DVR the Grammy's and since Steve was busy reading "Hug Your Customers" or something, I knew it was a good time to turn it on and flip through. The only problem? I didn't flip through that much. U2? Snore. Never liked them so I thought - great, another ridiculous Grammy's. But I was SO wrong. Thank you Justin Timberlake and Al Green for starting the night off right.

Great pairings, good sound (except for that one stage on the left - it sounded different than the others, but Carrie Underwood and Adele can handle that kind of thing). Short speeches, only the "big" awards. I mean, we watch the Grammy's because we love these people's music. It's not like you can do clips of movies throughout the Oscars. People want to be recognized. But at the Grammy's, we really just want to hear the music we love. I wasn't a huge fan of a lot of the selections but I wound up being a huge fan of this show. I honestly wish I would have saved it.

Except for this hot mess. You get four - legends of rap - on stage and you add her? I get why they did it to her song. But that's all she had. And I'm convinced she was lip-syncing. And boo-hoo, she was due that day. Why was she on stage? Pretty cool story for her future kid. If it can think straight after that "popping."


What an awesome group. I still thought Nas should have won best rapper but my love for Nas goes way back. Lil Wayne has had quite a year. But Kayne probably had a better one.

I was so happy they got it. I love Allison Krause and Robert Plant and the fact together they could work so well together on this album is truly something to reward. Their voices really do complement each others. Although she does always look a little uncomfortable with him (who wouldn't be?) Their concert at Ravinia was one of my favorite memories last summer.

I was telling K about this last night. Taylor Swift is growing on me. Great voice, good musician, writes her own music and stays true to the fact she is young. She weathered the Jonas brothers thing (why do people date them?!?) and came out on top. And she proved she's much classier and a better musician than Miley Cyrus in about 2 minutes on stage, in front of everyone.


I shrieked when Adele won. I never thought she would win. I thought they would give it to Duffy (bleck) or the Jonas Brothers (vomit) . I could not be happier for her. The Grammy's truly rewarded a real talent who will continue to make great music, especially with this little boost. Get her CD - and listen to the entire thing if you haven't. It's incredible.

My favorite performance of the night. And I like Coldplay, I do. I didn't love their last album but I think they're creative and inspired and well, I love Gwyneth. But the fact Jay Z can come out and rap to Lost?/! - probably my favorite song on the album - was outstanding. Jay Z really is the king when it comes to filtering into all different kinds of music. This performance completely stole the show for me.

Bravo, Grammy. Soooo much better than the MTV video awards.

"You look fine"

Has anyone ever heard these three words on a Friday/Saturday night as they're getting ready to go out, usually from the male in their life?

"You look fine"
"You look cute"
"You look nice"
"We're late already"
"Why does it matter that I am clashing with you?"

Okay, maybe the last one is just at my house. My friends and I have had a chat about this and we've deemed these comments no longer acceptable. You see, Men, most of us are used to getting quite a bit more feedback. Sometimes *more* than we bargained for. This is especially true when dealing with a female whose had sisters, lived in a sorority or had girlfriends that lived nearby and frequently popped over. A lot of women enjoy shopping together (though I am kind of an exception to this, I prefer going alone), finding out what other people think about their outfit, their new idea, these new jeans. This usually happens with big purchases, but it can apply to everything. A bold move away from their own style, a dress for an important occasion, a night out with friends - we like an opinion. An honest, thoughtful opinion. "You look fine" doesn't cut it.

Men - let's dig a little deeper next Friday night. When ______ comes into the living room in an outfit and asks "How do I look?," take a breath first, before answering. Look up, start at the hair, and slowly look down. Observe the earrings, necklace, scarf, shirt, bracelet, jeans/dress/skirt and the shoes. What stands out? Does something look weird? Have you ever seen those earrings? Think about it. Find one thing - that you like, and mention it. What grabs you? Mention *that*. Now, if something stands out in a bad way, we honestly want to know. Because if YOU notice it, everyone will notice it. So if that navy shirt and jeans are the same color and look like one big jumpsuit - by God, it's your duty to say something. And if your friend/girlfriend/fiance/wife looks SMOKIN', and you have no further comment ..

Tell them.

Example of: Try again. Take a shower. Re-do. I will call and tell them we're running late. And if that's not a wig maybe we should just cancel.
